LET’S TALK ABOUT ANGER
Because feeling starts with understanding what’s really going on inside.
★ ★ ★ ★ ★
SO… WHAT IS ANGER?
Anger is a natural, basic human emotion that shows up when we sense a threat, an unfairness, or a boundary being crossed, whether that threat is physical, emotional, or even just to our sense of self-worth.
Psychologically, it’s a “fight” response. It exists to mobilize us: to protect, to push back, to demand change.
We love to cast anger as the villain of the emotional world. But it’s actually a messenger. The problem was never the emotion itself, it’s what we do with it.
WHAT ANGER FEELS LIKE
IN THE BODY
Your body usually knows before your brain catches up. Watch for:
HEAT
flushed face, warm chest
TIGHT JAW
clenched teeth, tense shoulders
FAST HEARTBEAT
pounding pulse, quick breath
RESTLESS
fidgeting, pacing, tight fists
Anger is one letter short of danger but, it’s also one of the most honest teachers we have with emotions.

HOW TO WORK WITH ANGER
1
Name it out loud.
“I’m angry right now” creates just enough distance to stop a reaction before it starts.
2
Give your body an exit.
A brisk walk, a shake-out, even squeezing a pillow — let the physical charge move.
3
Slow the breath down.
Try 4 counts in, 6 counts out. The longer exhale tells your nervous system it’s safe.
4
Ask what’s underneath.
Once the heat settles, get curious: what boundary, need, or hurt is this really about?
Anger doesn’t have to run the show.
If it’s been feeling bigger than you can manage on your own, our team is here for that conversation.
