Frequently Asked Questions
What Is Supervised Visitations?
Separation can make arranging visitation with children difficult. Challenges may occur during the exchange of the child between parents or with relatives like grandparents. Concerns about the visits themselves can also arise. Our program offers a safe and supportive environment where parenting time is supervised by trained staff. Upon request, we provide courts and legal representatives with copies of our observation reports to assist in the process.
What Does Supervised Visitations Look Like?
Supervised parenting sessions occur either in a private space within our clinic or through virtual meetings. These visits are overseen by trained program staff who carefully record objective, factual observations of the interactions. Staff intervene only if the safety, health, or well-being of the child or others is at risk. To maintain a safe environment, parents arrive and leave at staggered times, ensuring they do not come into direct contact with each other. A minimum of two fully trained staff members are present at all times, and children are accompanied by staff throughout their visit.
What Are The Requirements For Supervised Visitations?
To qualify for supervised visitations, the following must be provided:
- A court order or endorsement, signed Minutes of Settlement, separation agreement, or mediation agreement that clearly outlines the terms of supervised parenting time or exchanges, including the schedule (time, date, frequency) and which party is responsible for the associated fees.
- Payment of all applicable program fees.
Referrals may also come from:
- Legal representatives of either party
- The Office of the Children’s Lawyer (OCL)
- Self-referrals accompanied by a valid court order
Please note, we reserve the right to impose restrictions or limitations on program participation.

- Any social work or psychological assessments
